A Box Full of Kittens 17 min. - Ages 3-7 ¡°This charming iconographic production of Sonia Manzano¡¯s book introduces Ruthie, a superhero-loving Puerto Rican girl who longs to do something heroic for her expectant aunt. A Mama For Owen 9 min. - Ages 4-8 ¡°After baby hippo Owen is orphaned in a tsunami, a new friend - an elderly turtle named Mzee - becomes his family. Many of our authors narrate their own programs, and children have an opportunity to hear a Conversation With the Author in fifteen of these twenty-one new video adaptations. Children also have lots of fun with a special Did You Know section included in many of our Life Science programs.

  • Lily Toy Hong reads two Chinese stories, (Two Chinese Tales: Stories From The Chinese Folktale Tradition) her own humorous retelling of a traditional Chinese folktale, Two Of Everything and Kathy Tucker¡¯s delightful, The Seven Chinese Sisters.

  • George Foreman ¡­ he of boxing ring and cooking grill fame ¡­ has recorded the narration of his own critically acclaimed best-selling children¡¯s picture book, Let George Do It! We released this delightful program in June of 2006.

  • David McPhail reads his Big Brown Bear Stories and talks about Bear, Rat and the joys of writing and illustrating picture books.

  • June Sobel narrates two of her alphabet stories, Shiver Me Letters and B Is for Bulldozer, and tells how she started writing alphabet books.

  • Yuyi Morales reads Just A Minute and talks about Mexico¡¯s Day of the Dead and how she came to write her award-winning book.

  • Sonia Manzano, Maria from Sesame Street, reads A Box Full of Kittens and talks about her childhood in her Puerto Rican family.

  • Julie Danneberg narrates her First Day Jitters and Last Day Blues and  talks about how she came to write these funny stories.
